Not a rivalry — a workflow. The artifact is the workshop, the hosted page is the storefront.
Credit where due: artifacts are the best game-prototyping loop ever shipped. You describe, Claude builds, you play — in seconds, in the same window. For iterating on mechanics with Claude, nothing beats them, and you should keep doing exactly that.
An artifact is part of a conversation, not a destination. There is no page around it: no thumbnail, no description for link previews, no comments, no play count, and no way for anyone to discover it — the link has to be handed over personally, one person at a time. Your game cannot build an audience from inside a chat window, and a link buried in a months-old conversation is a link you will eventually lose track of.
